THE GOLF SIMULATOR
COMPONENTS

ENGOLFED

THE SIMULATOR PACKAGE

We have listed all the components that make up your

bespoke golf simulator

DELL

ALIENWARE AURORA
R13 GAMING DESKTOP

Almost every single simulator package is going to require a PC to run its software.

Many of the major providers have recently added 4K graphics, and you’ll need a robust processor and graphics card. Purchasing a gaming computer is usually a smart decision. Simulators where the computer is unable to keep up with the software will cause delays and apps crashing. It’s not fun!

BENQ

LK936ST 4K Short-Throw BlueCore Laser Projector
(& Ceiling Bracket)

Discreet and extremely compact, these high-brightness, flexible and stylish laser projectors are perfect for corporate, education and golf simulator applications.

โ€‹

With an innovative 0.8 short throw ratio and 1.1x zoom capability, BenQ LK936ST are able to produce larger-than-life images in tight spaces. When installed 14 to 15 feet from the screen, it can project images nearly 10 feet tall. This allows the projector to be placed above and behind the hitting area without creating unsightly shadows and glare. No visual distractions means your practice will be more productive than ever.

SONY

6000 Lumen 3lcd Laser Projector
(& Ceiling Bracket)

One of the greatest benefits to building a golf simulator space is that it can be a dual purpose room and serve as a home cinema or sports bar / man cave as well.

The golf simulator space, due to a high quality projector and projector screen, is set up perfectly to serve as a home theater.  While a lot less expensive than a couple of decades ago, there is still a certain level of investment or commitment that must be put into place. At the end of the day, the dual purpose space might be the final justification to get your significant other to support your golf simulator build and your addiction to the game of golf!

In our latest project we used the Sony VPL-PHZ60 Projector and we will continue to utilise the Sony going forward due to the picture quality and brightness as well as its positioning flexibility in the room.

It is the world’s smallest, lightest 6,000 lumen laser projector. The high-brightness, flexible and stylish laser projector is perfect for corporate, home and golf simulator applications.

High Definition
Video Impact Screens

Choosing a Video Screen is determined by the actual projected image relative to your projectors capability. For Golf and Home Cinema we suggest a screen aspect of 16:10 for the largest widescreen graphics possible.

โ€‹

This will however require your room width to be no less than 3,800mm which would allow for a 167” Screen being 3,600mm wide x 2,250mm high. We allow 100mm either side of the screen for fixing and tensioning on the custom steel frames. Our optimal screen sizes are 186” (4,000mm x 2,500mm) and 200” (4.310mm x 2,700mm). Our commercial/Pro screen is 223” (5,800mm x 3,000mm)

A multilayer fabric made with a foam core absorbs and dampens golf shots, reducing impact noise. Projected images will be sharper and brighter on the higher quality fabrics than on any other material.

Top & Side
Netting
(optional)

Netting attaches to the front edge, extending over 1 - 1.5 metres on all three sides and protects your ceiling and walls against stray golf balls and shanked shots.

Hitting Mat.jpeg

Hitting Mats

The Driving Range Mat has a long dense fibre system which absorbs and dissipates the blow delivered by a golf swing like natural turf. A normal golf tee is used without any infill, 32mm knitted nylon turf for a real feel, and 3mm urethane stabilising layer 14mm foam base for added comfort and stability.

Iconic 20 produces a superior artificial turf golfing experience. Simulating the characteristics of a real putting green it is spin responsive, will check and hold a pitched ball and offer a true consistent roll. 20mm

Wall Panelling
(Acoustic noise reduction)

We highly recommend acoustic panels, particularly for smaller rooms and when metal woods are to be used. Some drivers are very loud. If acoustic panels are not used, there is a real risk of noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Drapes and carpet lining all reduce noise, however, the best approach is to install specialised acoustic panelling on the walls, and preferably also the ceiling.

Acoustic panels reduce sound reflection and therefore echo within the enclosure. Autex Cube™ acoustic panels reject the restraints of traditional acoustic panels, offering versatility and creative freedom in place of dull conventionality. Autex Cube panels can be cut, moulded, printed, pressed, and grooved to create high-performance acoustic features for any interior space.

Made from 100% polyester fibre, Cube panels are available in 12mm and 24mm (on request) thicknesses for application flexibility, and don’t require edging or capping. The panels can be applied with a self-adhesive backing for easy installation by DIYer, competent tradesperson or Autex certified preferred installer.

LIGHTING

Light is required to see the ball on the ground with good depth perception. However, light on the screen will reduce image brightness and contrast. The ideal approach is to restrict light to only around the hitting mat, particularly the impact area. This is best achieved by removing external light from windows, as that light cannot be directed to where it is needed. With extraneous light removed as much as possible, artificial lights can be used to selectively illuminate around the golfer’s feet and ball.

High powered LED lights are readily available for this purpose and best used with a dimmer to ensure only enough light is selected for satisfactory illumination of the hitting mat. Recessed LED canister lights or LED panels directly above the stance mat work well. For high speed swing video capture, bright lighting such as LED floodlights are required to minimise movement blur. 650 lumens or more may be required. Keep these lights away from the screen to maximise screen brightness and contrast.
